Is Obama Trying to Harm the Federal Contracting Industry?

Politically and philosophically, yes. Intentionally and in practice, no. After all, we are voters too. For both political and philosophical reasons, the new administration is trying to return highly visible work to the appropriate federal agencies. This decision is having a negative impact on selected service sectors and the military may have to reduce its spending on weapon systems. In practice however, is the federal government really going to recapture the skill-based work, infrastructure work, security work, and facilities maintenance and repair work? Are the feds prepared to manufacture needed energy saving equipment and install it, or handle personnel recruiting functions? No. No one has ever truly defined "inherently governmental functions" and the "inherently subjective" definition will change with the political tide.

Wait it out, it is only going to get bigger.
