The Federal Procurement Data Center (FPDC) collects statistical data about U.S. Government Executive Branch
contract transactions over $25,000 awarded since October 1, 1978. The FPDC summarizes who bought what, from
whom, and where.
Approximately 60 Executive Branch agencies report their contract obligations to the FPDC. The largest exception to
the requirement to report is the U.S. Postal Service. The Legislative Branch (Congress) and the Judicial Branch
(U.S. Courts) do not report to the FPDC. FPDC data contains approximately 50 data elements including agency
identification, broad category of what was purchased, dollar obligation, principal place of performance, and
contractor identification.
