Jumpstation:
The Jumpstation is a directory of links to procurement information at federal, state and local and international websites. It's one of the most popular sections at Fedmarket.com because it's a big time-saver in finding business opportunities. For an even bigger time-saver, give Bidengine a try. You can search all the government sites in the Jumpstation (and thousands more) all at the same time using keywords.

Bid Opportunities:
Bid opportunity pages are organized into federal, state, local and international directories.

Procurement Forecasts:
Agencies often give contractors a "heads up" on future business opportunities by providing information on what they're planning to buy and how much money they have to spend. While forecasts are for informational purposes only and do not represent specific contractual obligations, they often provide critical advance knowledge that can help companies stay ahead of the competition. This directory also includes sources sought, broad agency announcements, and contracts with termination dates.

Awards:
It's often said that you may be too late if you discover an opportunity for the first time by reading the formal bid notice. To discover trends and anticipate opportunities ahead of formal announcements (and ahead of your competitors), it helps to find out "who is buying what from whom."

A-76 Program:
The A-76 Program provides contractors an opportunity to perform work previously performed by government personnel. OMB Circular A-76, "Performance of Commercial Activities," states that it is not the Government's business or intent to be in competition with private business, and that if a commercial or industrial activity can be obtained from the private sector for less than it would cost the Government to perform the same activity, it should be obtained from the private source. Experts predict that $6.9 billion will be awarded under the A-76 Program over the next five years. The key to winning is to find out about performance studies before an RFP is issued so you can begin preparing a performance strategy now.

SBIR:
The Small Business Innovative Research (SBIR) Program was created by Congress in 1982 to help small businesses more actively participate in federal research and development (R&D). All Federal agencies with an annual extramural R&D budget exceeding $100M are required to participate in the SBIR Program. Participating agencies are required to conduct an SBIR Program by reserving a percentage of their R&D budget to be awarded to small businesses through a three-phase process. Eligible companies must have 500 employees or less, and must be the primary place of employment of the principal investigator.

Contractor Registration:
If you don't register with the government with whom you wish to do business, you often can't compete.
